Jeffrey Hall, of Naugatuck was arrested for selling the fake tickets in the area of Causeway Street around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, Boston Police said. This was the same night the Celtics were playing the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of the finals at TD Garden.
Responding officers also learned that Hall was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of Wrentham District Court for forging and selling tickets, police said. He will appear in court at a later date.
Boston Police are using the arrest to remind fans about the dangers of counterfeit tickets as the NBA finals persist. The agency encourages people to buy tickets through authorized platforms and be wary of buying from a secondary source.
"Officers want to proactively curb such activity and encourage buyers to only purchase from official vendors," police said "Purchasing via other means creates the potential for possessing an invalid and/or counterfeit ticket."
Anyone with information about the selling of fake tickets is asked to contact police, their Crime Stoppers Line at 1-800-494-TIPS, or texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463). Callers can remain anonymous.
